Visits to enlargement countries
Eurostat closely monitors the development of government finance (GFS) and excessive deficit procedure (EDP) statistics in countries that are enlargement countries to help them comply with the EU legislation (EU acquis).
To this end and to prepare them for EU membership, Eurostat has integrated these countries' reporting into its government finance and EDP statistics working processes. Thereby, they can advance in applying the concepts and methodology of the European system of accounts (ESA 2010) and the Manual of government deficit and debt (MGDD).
The co-operation also includes technical visits to the countries and publication of GFS and EDP data, whenever their quality allows publication. The detail and quality of GFS and EDP data transmitted to Eurostat varies among the countries.
